I have decided to throw in an occasional post based on a quote about photography ….. being a photographer communicating by imagery comes naturally to me whereas words are sometimes a little slower to come … Photography has always been part of my life ever since bought my first camera at the age of 17 without the knowledge of where it would eventually take me. Whether shooting landscapes or weddings, photography is my passion and creating beautiful imagery my motivation. I will be posting a series of quotes accompanied by one of my own photos chosen simply because it I like them . Here’s the first
” I take photographs with love, so I try to make them art objects. But I make them for myself first and foremost – that is important ”
Jacques- Henri Lartique

I recently went back to Achnagairn House with Averil, who’s wedding I photographed last summer. So far the wedding has been featured in No.1 for weddings magazine as well as a front cover in the press and Journals wedding magazine. Hardly surprising really given that Averil made such a stunning bride and chose an amazing dress for her wedding day. I recently blogged some of the veil shots I did on this shoot but there’s plenty more. If you are looking for a really unique and atmospheric venue for your wedding Achnagairn House is definitely worth considering .. definitely my favourite local venue.

The day after Susie and Donalds wedding I had the luxury of spending the day at various locations in Caithness with Susie. The area gave us a variety of unusual and creative backdrops for the images which made up the day after shoot. Luckily the weather was also on our side and Susie made a great model

Back in September Susie and Donald were married in Caithness. A pleasure to photograph the wedding of another photographer .. heres a few shots of the couple.

I was recently reading the blog of Rhiannon Connelly Starrybluesky whose latest blog post was from an idea of Gwen Bell’s which can be seen here . The challenge Gwen sets out is to look back on your year. ” A time for reflection. A time to make new friends ”
So I will try to blog on a few of the suggestions, the first one being appropriately
Dec 19 #best car ride
My chosen car ride is not particularly amazing but just simply a journey road which takes me from my home village of Ullapool… well..to anywhere really . Just one road south so I travel it many a time .. on this occasion for a meeting with at Tulloch Castle Hotel.
A particularly beautiful morning … its not often that I am inspired enough to stop at the side of the road and take a photo .

Couldnt resist just one more shot from the beautiful wedding of Stephanie and Bryce this year in California.
I received news a month ago that an image entered into the national MPA print awards achieved an award of excellence. The image was shot locally at Loch Glascarnoch during an unusually dry spell . The Loch, usually filled with water, occasionally gets low enough to expose old tree roots and provides a very different backdrop for a shoot
Heres a preview of Reisha and Scott’s wedding at Balgonie Castle in Fife. An amazing venue and a lovely couple ! More to come soon…

Just a note to those who havent chosen their albums yet that the deadline for getting albums back for christams is the end of week. Most albums are shipped from Australia so if you are looking to have an album back with you for christmas I need your choices !
