Joan and Neils wedding at Achnagairn House

Another really lovely wedding at Achnagairn house, near Beauly in the Highlands. I am always delighted to shoot at Achnagairn house and Joan and Neil’s wedding certainly didn’t disappoint. A special mention to a couple of great suppliers on the day. Angela Stewart flowers provided the event styling and Lockhart city caterers did a great job with catering.

Kristen and Jeffreys wedding at Bunchrew House Hotel

Kristen and Jeffrey came over from the states by themselves to be married at Bunchrew House Hotel a couple of weeks ago. Perfectly content to be by themselves and enjoy every minute of their day together, it was a real pleasure to be part of it.
The wedding was unique in terms of photography and unlimited time with the couple certainly opens up the scope for creative images !
I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of Kristen and Jeffrey’s wedding and it was so nice to be part of the day, from witnessing the marriage to sharing their wedding cake.
Many thanks to my assistant Calum Mcakay who made an excellent light stand !!! and without whom I wouldnt have been able to capture some of the off camera flash imagery.

Vicki and Iains Wedding at Glenfinnan House

On a week where the grey skies and rain had been continuous, Vicki and Iain’s wedding day drew pretty much the same. It seemed a shame as the location of Glennfinnan House is spectacular, being right on the shore of Loch Sheil close to Fort William.
Vicki and Iain had planned to be married right down by the shore but it seemed destined not to happen ….. until half an hour before the ceremony when the clouds began lifting and the sun came out.

A really beautiful wedding, just as Vicki and Iain had to described to me a couple of months earlier when we met up.
A special mention to best man Alex who did a fantastic job of helping me organise the family photos extremely quickly and efficiently !

The mood of the entire wedding was one of laughter. Vicki seems to have a way of enjoying every minute which is a great way to spend your wedding day and indeed your life … serious photos not an option on this day but many photos full of laughter.
And heres some of the photos that demonstrate just how much laughter went on !

Evie and Rowan

Last week I photographed Evie and Rowan in their home in Dingwall. Two very beautiful little girls that I have photographed regularly ever since Evie was born four and a half years ago !

Austria

Just back from a trip to Leogang in Salzburg with travel writer Jenny McBain. We were lucky enough to stay in the very luxurious spa hotel Der Krallerhof which was just as well considering the rain and midst was so constant that I didn’t even catch a glimpse of the Alps just outside the hotel until a few hours before our departure. The clouds did eventually part for me to get a few shots in though !

Article in Photo Pro Magazine

This month saw a feature published in Photo Pro magazine around the subject of “photographer on photographer”. A project I started last year involved networking with a few of my photographer friends to photograph each other by way of gaining professional images for mutual benefit as well as using the time to experiment a little and push boundaries.

I must say that in addition to this, I also came away with a far greater understanding of how my clients feel at the other side of my camera …
Yes, thats all of you who come to me a little anxious about being photographed ! The end result was a series of portraits for both me and my fellow photographers which were really fun to create.

Fiona and Kenny’s wedding at Tulloch Castle

Tulloch castle wedding photography

From our very first meeting I knew that Fiona and Kenny’s wedding was going to be something to look forward to. Photography was high
on their list of priorities and as a result they were willing to give me unlimited time with them on the day .. a photographers dream !

Their wedding definitely holds the record for the most emotional ceremony I have attended yet ….very few dry eyes in the room whilst Kenny read one of the most moving poems to Fiona.

Overall a really lovely intimate wedding at my all time favourite location for photographing weddings …
Tucked away in Dingwall, Tulloch Castle Hotel provides an unexpectedly beautiful venue packed full of atmosphere, great colours and fabulous light …fantastic for really creative images.Spending time before and after the meal meant I managed to capture a variety of images in different locations and in different light as well … well worth taking the time out. Fiona,Kenny, Callum and Lucy… you were all a delight photograph and here’s a small selection of highlights from the day starting with the lovely Callum and Lucy, Fiona and Kennys children.

Sea Images !

I consider myself very fortunate …I get to spend many of my working days amongst happy people, celebrations and being close to the two people for whom the day is one of the best and biggest day of their lives. Highly pressured at times it may be, but I love photographing weddings. With many weddings about to be blogged I thought it would be nice to have a brief interlude with something totally different and am posting a few of my favourite beachy images.
I love landscape photography …. quite specifically anything connected to the sea .. above, below or in !!
I have been lucky enough to live in the Highlands for the past 8 years amidst some of the most stunning scenery. Travelling to the Outer hebrides for the past two years to spend a little time just focusing on landscape photography, each time I am continually stunned by the most beautiful deserted stretches of white sand and turquoise seas.

Often off the beaten track, or indeed not on any sort of track at all, you can feel as though you are in a different country when you find
the secluded beaches of the Islands. The images shot below are pretty much out of camera so, yes the colours are indeed real !

Janey and Duncans wedding at Achnagairn house

Janey and duncan came over from the Isle of Lewis to be married in Inverness with their reception held at Achangairn House by Beauly. Stormy weather made it difficult for many guests travel plans but despite this the wedding went perfectly and we even managed to do all the photographs outside.
Janey made a very beautiful bride and you were both a pleasure to photograph…. Wishing you all the happiness for your future together ..

Iona and Craig’s wedding was a perfect mix of happiness and emotion in the really stunning location of Dunbeath Castle gardens.
Before the wedding the atmosphere was relaxed and full of enjoyment which is always a great way to start the day !
